Standing Up For Students
- Experience: Over a decade working with America’s most challenged school districts
- Commitment: Advancing common sense reforms that improve student outcomes
- Collaboration: Partnering with parents and our community to get results for our kids
All students can achieve when they get the opportunities they deserve. I have seen this repeatedly through over a decade of work in school districts across the country.
As a first-term board member, I took a stand for our students by pushing reforms to improve the quality of education they receive in our classrooms, including:
- Establishing academic after-school programs to help our students get ahead
- Creating college preparation programs that put our middle schoolers on the path to success.
- Holding our leadership to account by initiating the first superintendent’s evaluation in years
- Recruiting a new superintendent committed to our goal of a quality education for all
With the tireless work of our administrators, principals, and especially our teachers, test scores are improving -- up 26% in math and 31% in reading since 2005. But our work won’t be finished until all students achieve at high levels.
With your help, I will keep our schools focused on giving every student an excellent education. |
